Essential Skills Modules and TOWES
Build a Foundation of Essential Skills
The employees of today’s trucking industry are involved in customer relations, detailed equipment inspections and a host of related regulations. All of these tasks require a strong foundation in the Essential Skills of reading text, document use, and math.
The Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council (CTHRC) has developed tools and programs to support the testing and training in the Essential Skills of reading text, document use and math.
The Test of Workplace Essential Skills (TOWES) available through one of our recognized distributors can determine the needs that people have, while the self directed workbooks will help to establish the skills for learning in the years to come. TOWES has become a pre-requisite to a number of programs, to ensure that candidates will be successful.
Each lesson draws on the language of the trucking industry, with references to the workplace needs that are a reality every day.
