CTHRC begins search for new Executive
Director
OTTAWA, Ont. (January 2011) – The Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council (CTHRC) has initiated the search for a new executive director, following Linda Gauthier’s announcement that she will resign from the position in June 2011.
Gauthier has served the CTHRC since 1995, and held the position of executive director since 2002. Pragmatic HR Solutions of Dartmouth, N.S. has been engaged to assist in the search for her replacement.
“I have been thrilled to work with so many people who have demonstrated an eagerness and a commitment to addressing the trucking industry’s HR challenges,” Gauthier said. “Collectively, we have made a difference, and I am particularly proud that the Council’s leadership has been recognized internationally – as demonstrated through our recent involvement in the European Union’s ProfDVR project.”
“Linda’s leadership and dedication has been a tremendous asset to Canada’s trucking industry,” says CTHRC Chair Kevin Riley. “In many ways, her name has become synonymous with the work of the Council. She will truly be missed.”
Since joining the CTHRC, Gauthier has helped to develop training programs, establish Essential Skills Profiles for a variety of occupations, and overseen several extensive research projects. She also played a leading role in the Closing the Gap initiative that brought together government representatives and members of the trucking industry to help address the shortage of qualified drivers. In May 2003, she received the National Transportation Week Award of Achievement in Edmonton, Alta.
